Kim Zolciak Buys Her Kids Bulletproof Backpacks After Florida Shooting

Kim Zolciak-Biermann will do anything to protect her children. The reality star – who is the mother of Brielle, 20, Ariana, 16, KJ, 6, Kash, 5, and twins Kaia and Kane, 4 – revealed that she is buying her children bulletproof backpacks following the Parkland, Florida, shooting.

“I just asked Kroy what can we do as parents to protect our children everyday in this crazy sad world,” Zolciak-Biermann, 39, wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday, February 15. “He said, ‘best thing we could do for now is get bullet proof book bags.’ You know I just did! It’s better than not having anything at all. Just thought I would share with you guys. I just found this first on Amazon so I bought it. It’s certified.”

She posted two photos of the Guard Dog Security backpack that costs $114.29.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is one of many celebrities who have taken to social media following the horrific shooting that killed 17 people on Wednesday, February 14. The shooting suspect, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. Last year, he had been expelled from the school for disciplinary reasons.

Following the tragedy, celebs took to Instagram and Twitter to demand changes be made. “We have an opportunity to elect candidates who won’t allow kids to go to school and get shot. It is disgusting how many times this has happened and Republicans do nothing. You all have blood on your hands,” comedian Chelsea Handler wrote.

Ellen DeGeneres, meanwhile, wrote: “No words, no actions, no laws are enough until we end this epidemic of school shootings in our country. My heart is with the students and parents of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.”

Actor Rainn Wilson also posted a strong message. “As we send our thoughts & prayers to the people of Parkland, Florida how about we, the people & govt of America, actually DO something abt gun violence,” he tweeted.
